Diagnosis

Microscopic agglutination (MAT)  is done to detect Leptospirosis. The process of MAT consists following procedures to study presence of infection

1. the action of an agglutinant substance.

2. the process of union in wound healing.

3. the clumping together in suspension of antigen-bearing cells, microorganisms, or particles in the presence of specific antibodies (agglutinins).

Other tests may be done:

  • A white blood cell count generally shows less than 10,000 white blood cells.

  • Urinalysis is usually abnormal.

  • Higher-than-normal creatine kinase is found in approximately 50% of patients.
