Symptoms

  • Hardening and thickening of the skin which is called as elephantiasis due to more bacterial infections in the skin and lymph system.
  • Distortion of lymphatic system.
  • At the late stage painful, disfiguring swelling of the limbs occurs.
  • Hydrocele or swelling of the scrotum may develop in case of men after the death of an adult worm.
  • Filarial infection can also cause pulmonary tropical eosinophilia syndrome, which includes cough, shortness of breath, and wheezing.
  • Sometimes swelling in arm, leg, breast, and limb may occur.
  • Rupture of lymph into urinary tract.
