Visitors:

Dr. M.G.R. Rajan, Head, Laboratory, Nuclear Medicine and Dr. Mythili Kameswaran, scientist E, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai visited JBTDRC on 22nd September, 2006 for discussion on TB diagnostics.

Research Training and Project Work:

Ms. Umavanam and Mr. Vivek Pandey from Centre of Biotechnology, Anna University visited during 19th July to 1st August, 2006 for evaluation of ALT, TGA and ALT + TGA recombinant proteins and as well as DNA forms as vaccine candidates as part of the ongoing DBT funded collaboration research project. 

Ms. Masrshleen and Ms. Alka from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi visited for evaluation of GST as a vaccines candidate in in jird model during September 1-2, 2006.

Short Term Projects in Biotechnology / Bioinformatics:

·        Dr. Ayashakantha Mohanty, M.Sc student, Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar, completed the project in Bioinformatics from 15th June to 20th August, 2006. 

·        Mr. Smruti Ranjan Naik, M.Sc student, Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar, completed the project in Bioinformatics from 15th June to 20th August, 2006.

·         Ms. Harsha Loyate M.Sc student, Amravati University, underwent training programme from 25th June to 25th August, 2006 in protein isolation and immunoassay techniques.

 

·         Ms.  Nanda S.  Mavale  M.Sc student, Agnihothri College of Science (JMSS), Nagpur University, joined the Centre for short term training course on “Isolation of filarial antigen (Bm mf 5.2) of Diagnostic importance of FPLC and  raising  polyclonal antibodies against it”.

Participation in Meeting / Conference / Symposia:

Ø      Visited Parasanti Kutiram on June 27th and had discussion with Dr. H. R. Nagendra, Vice-chancellor, Swami Vivekananda yoga Anusandhan Samsthana, Bangalore  regarding forthcoming Symposium on Holistic Living. 

Ø      Attended Research Advisory Committee meeting held at Blue Peter Research Centre, Lepra India, Hyderabad on 24th August and also had discussions with Brahmarshi Subhash Patri, Founder, Pyramid Spiritual Societies (India) at Hyderabad on 25th August on the forthcoming Symposium on Holistic Living. 

Ø      Attended Experts meeting on ‘Use of Traditional Remedies in Filariasis’ held at ICMR, New Delhi on 20th September

Dr. Satish Kumar: Principal Investigator, CSIR Project attended “Monitoring Meeting of Medical Sciences Research committee” held on September 11, 2023 at C.S.I.R. Complex, New Delhi. 

Mr. Pramod Deshmukh attended 8th International Conference on ‘e-Health Networking, Application and Services’ (Healthcom 2006), at New Delhi organised by School of Telemedicine & Biomedical Informatics Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow during 17th –19th August, 2006.

Arogyadham

Dr. Karthickeyan attended 10 day Vipasana meditation course at Vipasana International Academy, Igatpuri during 6th – 16th September, 2006. 

Meetings of Friends of Arogyadham:

            Regular meetings of friends of Arogyadham were held on 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month of July, August, and September. Video  & Audio clippings on ‘Art of Self Management’ by Swami Parthasarathy; ‘Food for Life’ by Smt. Hansaji; ‘Mind And Man’ by Swami Parthasarathy; & ‘Stress Management’ by Smt. Hansaji were screened.

Herbal Garden:

Work of the wasteland development of about 250 acres behind Medical Institute was started on October 2nd 2002 and developed for Herbal Garden by Jain Charities through JISL. Water is brought by a 5-6 Km. pipeline from Pawnar river. Presently Aonla (22000), Ritha (50), Karanj (103), Neem (292), Ashoka (155), Custard apple (105), Banana (18000) have been planted under drip irrigation. 95% grafting of Aonla plants has been completed. Aolna plants are in good health. Both organic and chemical fertilizers are given. Aonla plants started bearing fruit. This year again we have Soybean (15 acres), Dhaincha & Sunhemp (100 acres) as green manuring crops and banana (10 acres).
