Recognition

         1) For the first time in India a Capital grant of US $ 57, 000 (1980) along with a small grant of US $ 5000 (1981) were awarded to the Department under WHO/ UNDP/ World Bank Special programme for research and training in Tropical Diseases, for sophisticated equipment and building of Insectarium.

      2) This department has been selected for Indo-US Scientific collaboration in Filaria research with University of Texas Health Science Centre, Houston and was awarded a grant of Rs. 2,00,000 (1984-88) for sophisticated equipment.

     3) JBTDRC has been identified for establishing ‘Repository for filarial parasites and reagents’ and a grant of Rs. 70 lakhs (1997 & 2001) has been awarded by Department of Biotechnology.

      4) JBTDRC at MGIMS has been identified for establishing Bioinformatics Centre as a part of National Bioinformatics Network in India by Department of Biotechnology (1999).

              “A process for isolation and purification of B. malayi microfilarial excretory-secretory (mfES-22) glyco protein for diagnosis and monitoring of active filarial infection and for morbidity control in clinical filariasis”.

                “A process for isolation and purification of B. malayi microfilarial soluble (mfS-71 and mfS-72 / 68) glyco proteins for diagnosis and monitoring of active filarial infection and for morbidity control in clinical filariasis”.
