Bioinformatics Centre (BIC)

Bioinformatics Centre at JBTDRC, MGIMS, Sevagram was started in March 1999 with the grant-in-aid from Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi as a part of National Bioinformation Network System to establish link amongst Scientists in organizations involved in Biotechnology related research activities. The Centre has been established with the objectives:

1) To be a part of National Bioinformation Network and have access for information for the users. 2) Publication of SEVAMED - a quarterly update on Infectious Disease Research and Traditional Medicine. 3) To develop and promote Medical Informatics and develop Database on Diagnosis and Treatment of certain diseases: Filaria & Tuberculosis in particular, and extend to other diseases. 4) To organize workshops on Medical Informatics & Biomedical communication for medical Teachers, Young Scientists and Post Graduate Students.

Internet Service (DOT-TCP/IP) is available.

Publication:

Centre launched SEVAMED - a quarterly update on Infectious Disease Research and Traditional Medicine. Four issues are annually released in Jan, April, July, and Oct. This effort of dissemination of information has been well received by the Scientists and Medical Teachers of various Colleges and Research Institutes. We have growing number of subscribers for this publication. Current issue of SEVAMED is available on web www.jbtdrc.org issues for 2001 - 2003 are available offline on CD.

Databases:

Database Software FilaDB, TbDB, ObSoft, GynSoft, PsySoft have been developed for recording & retrieval of Data on Filariasis, Tuberculosis, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Psychiatry patients respectively. We are planning to develop same kind of softwares for other health problems. Annual Bibliography on Advances in Infectious Diseases Research and Traditional Medicine is available on CD. Further Centre has prepared on line Proceedings of four Workshops conducted at our Centre during 2000-2002 titled "Essentials of Biomedical Informatics and Communication". This covers the Interesting lectures & sessions conducted by the Eminent Experts Faculty drawn from different National Centres.

Workshops / Training Courses:

Centre conducts regularly short Inhouse Training Courses and Workshops at Regional and National level. Workshops organized at National level are:
