training course on ‘Introduction to Computer Basics & Access to Biomedical
Information' was organized on April 8, 2024 in this centre.Dr.J.R.Arora.Former
Adviser, DBT was the chief guest.
· Second
National Level ‘Workshop on Bioinformatics & Medical Research’ was
organized in the Bioinformatics Centre from November 24-26, 2000. Experts &
Guest faculty from different Bioinformatics Centres, DBT, NIC, ICMR visited the
center. Dr. T. Madhan Mohan Director, Bioinformatics Division, DBT was the Chief
guest.
· Third National 'Workshop on Medical Informatics, Research and
Communication' was
organized during November 26-28, 2001. Faculty was drawn from ICMR, BIC
Pondicherry, Sikkim, and JNU. Dr K. Satyanarayana and Dr. N.C. Jain from ICMR
conducted a very interesting session on Biomedical communication, Dr. K.
Satyanarayana DDG, ICMR, was the Chief Guest and Dr. Gulshan Wadawa, SSO, DBT
was the Guest of honour. Participants from all over India attended the course
and were benefited.

Fourth National Level Workshop On 'Medical Informatics And
Biomedical Communication' was organized during
sep.23-25,2002. Faculty was drawn from ICMR, BHU, Varanasi SMIMS, Sikkim.
Dr K. Satyanarayana and Dr. N.C. Jain from ICMR conducted an interesting session
on Biomedical communication, Dr. T. Madhan Mohan, Director, DBT was the Chief
Guest and Dr. Meera Singh, DDG (SG), ICMR was the Guest of Honour.
· ICMR-WHO Workshop on
'Storage
and Retrieval of Information'
in collaboration with Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi was
organized at our Centre during Dec 10-12, 2002 with the objectives to
promote & provide training on Information Storage & Retrieval, RDBMS,
SQL, Databases Maintenance & Recovery, ASP, Bioinformatics Databases etc. to
the local & neighboring institutional users. This was the second of the
series of three Workshops planned at SMIMS
Sikkim, MGIMS Sevagram, and SVIMS Tirupati for strengthening
Medical informatics. Eminent experts & the Resource Persons from
different centres (ICMR, IIT, Kharagpur, Apollo, IMS, Indore, Manipal Hospital,
Bangalore) visited the center and delivered interesting interactive lectures.
