Bioinformatics & BTISnet

Bioinformatics deals with the various issues related to the biologist data covering development of data analysis tools, modeling of biological macromolecules and their complexes, metabolic pathways, designing of new molecules such as drugs, peptides, vaccines, proteins tec. It encompasses all the aspects of biological information that combines the tools and techniques of mathematics, Computer Science, and biology with the aim of understanding the biological significance of a variety of data.

India was one of the first countries that had taken a giant step in 1986 and established a nationwide Bioinformation System Of India. The programme comprises a distributed database and network system namely Biotechnology Information System Network (BTISnet).
