Arogyadham: |
Arogyadham is a Traditional Health Care & Research project of Kasturba Health Society for promotion of positive health in addition to taking care of preventive and curative aspects of health care in chronic ailments with Yoga & Naturopathy and other Complementary & Alternative Systems of Medicine. Arogyadham is presently having Kasturba Nisargopchar Kendra equipped with nature cure facilities with specialization in life style correction, Herbal Garden, walkways, cottages for short stay, canteen with vegetarian health foods, Yoga & Meditation Hall and library facilities for the benefit of residents. Sushruta defines Health as “A complete harmony of functions between body, mind and soul”. Naturopathy believes in the presence of all healing powers within the body and aids human systems to remove the cause of disease. Yoga and Meditation promote Spiritual Health and calms the mind and thus helps in management of Stress related ailments associated with modern hi-tech era. |

Yoga & Nature Cure and Facilities: |
Nature cure facilities namely Hydrotherapy (steam bath, spinal bath & spray, hip bath, packs etc.), Massage (partial & full), Mud therapy (partial & full), Yoga therapy (daily classes, kriyas etc.), Acupuncture, Diet therapy etc. have been well established at the Arogyadham campus situated near Medical campus in 24 cottages constructed with financial support from Smt. Aparna Ben Trivedi. During the year 2004-2005, about 200 persons have visited Arogyadham with physical complaints like Arthritis, Bronchial asthma, Hypertension, Diabetes, Obesity, and got treatment and benefited. Further healthy people also utilized the facilities for massage, steam bath etc. for refreshing and energizing themselves. |
Health Awareness Camps at Kasturba Nisargopchar Kendra: |
As a scientific system of healing, with a “holistic” approach, Naturopathy and Yoga have shown beneficial effects on the “health and disease” of a person. To explain the efficacy and to make the people aware of the various benefits and the need of this system in the modern world, various camps have been conducted at Arogyadham by the Naturopaths Dr.R.Raja Raja Chozhan and Dr. K.Menaga. One day health awareness camps were organized during October to December 2004 to bring awareness and understanding of various chronic health problems and their better management by Meditation, Yoga, Naturopathy, Diet and special techniques for specific health problem. |

Dr. O.P. Gupta, Professor, Dept. of Medicine took keen interest in the camp on Hypertension & Cardiac disease and addressed the participants on the causes & complications. 19 patients including 6 doctors attended the camp. |

A research project “Efficacy of Naturopathy & Yoga in mixed Anxiety-Depression: A control study with and without Pharmacotherapy” in collaboration with Department of Psychiatry with budget 18 lakhs under consideration of Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy. |
Herbal Garden Project: |
Herbal Garden is flagship project of Arogyadham as a joint venture in between Jain Charities & Kasturba Health Society, was laid foundation on Gandhi Jayanthi Day (October 2, 2023) with the blessings of Shri. Dhiru S. Mehta (President, KHS) and Shri. Bhavarlal Jain (Chairman, JISL, Jalgaon). ‘Work is life’ culture of JISL has shown significant progress in development of Herbal Garden within 2 years, at an expenditure of 2 crores, thanks to Jain Charities for the investment. |
Five open wells of 30’ diameter and 35’ depth were dug for charging and distribution of water by drip irrigation for cultivation of plants. A pipeline of 10” diameter for a length of 5 km has been laid down from Paonar to Arogyadham Project area. Jack well has been constructed for pumping water from Dham river, Paonar. About 14500 Aonla plants (155 acres), 150 each of Neem and Karanji on road sides, 25 Coconut on banks of nala have been planted. As intercrop in between the Aonla plants which are about 15-20 feet apart, Onion seed in 95 acres and Onion bulb in 10 acres and 13100 tissue cultured Banana plants in about 7 acres have been in cultivation. |
Aonla plants are looking green and healthy with drip irrigation. |
Farmers Meet: |
Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. organized One day Vidarbha Farmers Meet and arranged demonstration and lectures on Drip irrigation, water management, GM crops etc. by Dr. Saradraoji Nimbalkar, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, Dr. Phundan Singh, Director, Central Institute of Cotton Research Institute, Nagpur, Dr. U.D. Thakre, Director, Agriculture Extension & Trainig, Pune, Shri. P. N. Raut, Joint Director, Agriculture and other distinguished experts. About 900 farmers attended the meet. |
